Extend Due Date for Submission of Income Tax Returns The Sales Tax Bar Association (STBA) has submitted Representations before Hon'ble Finance Minister and CBDT Chairman to extend due date for submission of Income Tax Returns under the Income Tax Act. Sales Tax Bar Association (Regd.), is one of the oldest and largest Association of Tax Professionals in the country. The Bar Association and its members consider themselves as part and parcel of Tax Administration to ensure that the Government gets the taxes which are just and due to the State and so vital for the welfare activities of the citizens. Almost all the members undertake compliance work under the Income Tax Act. On the above subject, we respectfully bring to your kind attention that the due date for submission of Income Tax Returns under the Income Tax Act for the period from 01.04.2022 to 31.03.2023 are due for filing by 31st July, 2023 That your honour is aware of the flood crisis in Delhi, and that the Income Tax Office and other ITO offices are closed owing to the extreme circumstances. Last date of filing of ITR is very near, therefore it is practically not possible to submit these documents in the case of large number of taxpayers by the prescribed due dates We, therefore, sincerely pray that due date for submission of Income Tax Returns be extended at least by one month i.e. upto 31 August 2023 at least in floor affected areas so that professionals are not put to undue stress for timely compliances
