Five Key Bills Likely To Be Introduced in Eighth Session of 18th Lok Sabha:

Government to introduce five key Bills in the 8th Session of the 18th Lok Sabha, focusing on judicial reforms, taxation, MSMEs, and governance.
Five important bills coming to Parliament

The government is set to push its legislative agenda with the introduction of five new bills in the Eighth Session of the Eighteenth Lok Sabha, besides two already introduced.
One of the bills will be the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which will replace the existing ordinance. The bill will strengthen India’s debt market, attract more foreign investment, and improve the availability of funds in the financial system. The bill is likely to help the economy cope with global challenges such as geopolitical tensions, rising crude oil prices, and disruptions in supply chains.
Second is the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026. The Bill seeks to raise the number of judges in the Supreme Court from 33 to 37 (excluding the Chief Justice of India). The goal is to reduce the case backlog and increase the efficiency of the Supreme Court.
The third is the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026. It seeks to amend the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969, to tighten rules on delayed registration of births and deaths. The fourth is the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The object of this bill is to amend the existing law relating to the prevention of insults to the National Flag, the Constitution and the national anthem.
Fifth is the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026. It aims to relax business rules, enhance the mechanism for resolving delayed payments, ensure enforcement of arbitration awards and provide greater flexibility to states to set up and manage Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Councils (MSEFCs) to improve the MSME sector. This is likely to facilitate the ease of doing business for MSMEs.
The government will also take up two bills that have already been presented. The bills are:
The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 25 March 2026.
The Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025, was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 15 December 2025 and referred to a Joint Committee.
