FM Nirmala Sitharama launched 12 GST Seva Kendra in Gujrat

The Union Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman (Finance and Corporate Affairs), launched 12 Goods and Services Tax (GST) Seva Kendras on November 7, 2023, at Gyandham School in Vapi, Gujarat.

The Union Finance Minister also awarded prizes of Rs 10 lakh to six customers who participated in the Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar scheme. After completing a purchase, the winners uploaded their valid GST bills to the app.

The Finance Minister said in the event that, these innovative amenities will aid in the country’s ease of doing business. While complimenting Gujarat for taking the lead in building such centres, the Finance Minister stated that it will serve as a model for other governments to emulate. Shri Kanubhai Desai, Gujarat’s Finance Minister, attended the event, as did Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), and senior officials from the GST department.

The Finance Minister stated that the common citizen of the country can make a meaningful contribution to the development of the nation by asking for a bill from a trader or shopkeeper while making a transaction under the Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar scheme. Smt. Sitharaman underlined that it is the consumer’s right to take the bill and the trader-shopkeeper’s duty to pay the charge.

According to the Finance Minister, such incentives will encourage more individuals to take invoices and upload them to the web in order to participate in the initiative.

Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar (MBMA) is a CBIC project that was introduced on September 1, 2023, to promote the practice of creating bills/ invoices during sale-purchase transactions. A public awareness campaign in support of the MBMA system is already underway.

State Finance Minister Shri Kanubhai Desai appreciated the Union Finance Minister for gifting the GST Seva Kendra to Vapi on the festival of Diwali and stated that when GST was implemented, many concerns were expressed, but the Union Finance Minister, as the chairperson of the GST Council, has always given priority to the interests of the people by taking the views of all members of the GST Council in every state.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ambition of ‘One Nation, One Tax’ has now become a reality. Gujarat has emerged as the country’s economic growth engine as a result of its business-friendly policies. The Mera Bill Mera Adhikaar scheme was a huge success.

Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Godhra, Vapi, Mehsana, Palanpur, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, and Gandhidham are among the 12 GST Seva Kendras that launched on November 7, 2023. The Government of India established GST Seva Kendra as a dedicated service centre to assist taxpayers with GST (Goods and Services Tax) concerns.
