FM Nirmala Sitharaman approves GST appellate tribunal in Indore
Nirmala Sitharaman, Union finance minister, has approved the launching of an appellate tribunal for Goods and Services Tax (GST) disputes in Indore, the Madhya Pradesh government's Public Relations Department announced on Thursday.
During Lok Sabha discussions, Indore MP Shankar Lalwani urged an appellate tribunal for GST in Indore, which Sitharaman granted, according to a press release.
Lalwani said in a statement that Indore has the greatest number of taxpayers in Madhya Pradesh and that the setting up of the GST appellate tribunal will assist numerous tax professionals and many more businessmen in the city.
The Lok Sabha member expressed optimism that the GST appellate tribunal in Indore would be operational shortly.
According to officials, the state capital Bhopal already has an appellate tribunal.
Currently, businesspersons from Indore and other parts of the state must visit the GST appellate tribunal in Bhopal to challenge commercial tax officials' rulings on GST taxation concerns.
