Former J’khand minister Bandhu Tirkey gets three-year jail term for possessing DA worth Rs 7.22 lakh

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Ranchi (Jharkhand) has today sentenced Shri Bandhu Tirkey, former Minister, Government of Bihar to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rupees Three lakh for possessing disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs.7,22,167/-.

CBI had registered a case on the orders of Hon’ble Jharkhand High Court in Writ Petition (PIL) No. 4700/2008 and taken over the investigation of FIR, earlier registered at Vigilance Department, Ranchi. It was alleged that Shri Bandhu Tirkey, then Minister had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income during the period March, 2005 to June 2009.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
