GATE 2025: GATE 2025 Registrations to Begin Today, Check Syllabus and Question Paper Pattern

GATE 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee has updated the GATE 2025 Syllabus officially at gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The GATE 2025 Syllabus has been uploaded for 30 distinct subjects. The whole GATE 2025 question paper will have a weightage of 100 marks, the section on General Aptitude (GA) will hold a weightage of 15 marks and the remaining question paper will be of 85 marks. The General Attitude (GA) question paper will comprise topics such as verbal, quantitative, analytical, and spatial aptitude. This year, the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA) syllabus has been released by the IISc Bangalore.

Under the GATE examination, a new two-paper combination has been introduced as of this year, 2024. Students who are prepared for one paper can subsequently attempt other papers. For example, the candidates who are prepared for the Agricultural Engineering (AG) paper can appear for the Civil Engineering (CE) paper as well. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee will begin the registration process for the GATE 2025 today at gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The GATE 2025 registrations will conclude on September 26, 2024, without late fees and on October 7, 2024, with late fees. The GATE 2025 examinations are scheduled on February 1, 2, 15 & 16, 2025 for 30 different disciplines. Exams will be held in online mode.

GATE 2025: General Aptitude (GA) Syllabus

The following table covers the syllabus for the GATE 2025 General Aptitude (GA), which has a 15% weightage of the entire question paper:

GATE 2025: Section-Wise Weightage

The general aptitude paper comprises up to 15% of the 100-mark question paper, with the exception of AR, GE, GG, XE, and XH. The remaining 85% of the question paper is comprised of the core subjects. The following lists the sectional weighting for each of the thirty chapters:

GATE 2025: Types of Questions

The upcoming GATE 2025 examination will include the following types of questions:

  • Candidate’s Selected Subject(s)
  • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
  • Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)
  • Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions

GATE 2025 Marks Allotment

With the exception of the papers on architecture (AR), statistics (ST), humanities and social sciences (XH), life sciences (XL), chemistry (CY), data science and artificial intelligence (DA), ecology and evolution (EY), geology and geophysics (GG), mathematics (MA), and physics (PH), candidates who take the GATE exam in 2025 will be graded according to the marking scheme below:

  • General Aptitude (GA): 15 marks
  • Engineering Mathematics: 13 marks
  • Subject Questions: 72 marks
  • Total: 100 marks
  • Total Time: 180 minutes
  • Architecture (AR), Statistics (ST), Humanities and Social Sciences (XH), Life Sciences (XL), Chemistry (CY), Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA), Ecology and Evolution (EY), Geology and Geophysics (GG), Mathematics (MA), Physics (PH) papers, marks distribution:

  • Compulsory Section: Part A (55 marks, common for all)
  • Subject Marks: 30 (Part B1: Surveying and Mapping or Part B2: Image Processing and Analysis, selectable during the exam)
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Total Time: 180 minutes

 

  • Geology and Geophysics (GG)-
  • General Aptitude (GA) Marks: 15
  • Compulsory Section: Part A (25 marks, common for all)
  • Subject Marks: 60 (Part B1: Geology or Part B2: Geophysics, chosen at the time of application)

  • Total Time: 180 minutes

 

  • Engineering Sciences (XE)-
  • General Aptitude (GA) Marks: 15
  • Compulsory Section: Section A (15 marks, Engineering Mathematics, common for all)
  • Subject Marks: 70 (TWO additional sections of 35 marks each, selectable during the exam)
  • Total Marks: 100
  • Total Time: 180 minutes

 

  • Humanities and Social Sciences (XH)-
  • General Aptitude (GA) Marks: 15
  • Compulsory Section: Section B1 (25 marks, Reasoning and Comprehension, common for all)
  • Subject Marks: 60 (ONE additional section, chosen at the time of application)

  • Life Sciences (XL)-

  • Compulsory Section: Section P (25 marks, Chemistry, common for all)
