The Central Government has appointed the Full Time Members of the Sixteenth Finance Commission.
The Sixteenth Finance Commission was constituted on 31.12.2023 with Shri Arvind Panagariya, former Vice-Chairman, NITI Aayog as its Chairman.
The Full Time Members are appointed to the Commission with the approval of the President of India namely Shri. Ajay Narayan Jha, Smt. Annie George Mathew, Dr. Niranjan Rajadhyaksha and Dr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh.
The Commission's terms of reference were notified on December 31, 2023. The Sixteenth Finance Commission has been asked to make its recommendations available by October 31, 2025, covering a 5-year award period beginning April 1, 2026.
