Government Notifies Effective Date for Key Provisions of Banking Laws (Amendment) Act, 2025
The Department of Financial Services under Ministry of Finance recently issued a notification on December 8, 2025 regarding the Banking Law (Amendment) Act, 2025.
The Central Government, in powers given by Section 1 (2) of the Banking Laws (Amendment) Act, 2025 (16), scheduled December 15, 2025 as the date on which the provisions of sections 2,6,7,8,9 and 14 of the Banking Laws Act 2025 will come into force.
These new sections will focus on updating banking rules so that banks follow more transparent rules. They ensure that all banks report information to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in the same format, which helps the RBI monitor and regulate the banking system more efficiently.
