Govt issued high security warning for Android Phone Users

Despite Google‘s efforts to provide frequent security updates and fixes to these devices, there have been times where Android has made severe security news.

CERT-In has recently issued a new “high severity” warning for Android users. The authorities have stated that “mutiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Android which could be exploited by an attacker to obtain sensitive information, gain elevated privileges and cause denial of service on the targeted system” .

For those who are unaware, CERT-In is a government entity responsible for detecting and managing cybersecurity risks. These vulnerabilities have been identified as high-risk and require immediate action.

Vulnerabilities in the Framework, System, Google Play system updates, Kernel LTS, Arm components, MediaTek components, Qualcomm components, and Qualcomm closed-source components make Android vulnerable.

Successfully exploiting these vulnerabilities may allow attackers to obtain sensitive information, escalate privileges, and cause a denial of service on the targeted machine.

The new vulnerabilities have been discovered in Android 11, Android 12, Android 12L, Android 13, and even the most recent version — Android 14.

To address these vulnerabilities, users should apply the most recent updates to their devices, according to CERT-In. In other words, consumers must constantly check for and apply the most recent updates, particularly Android security upgrades, for their devices.

To do so, go to Settings Software update and check for updates.
