Govt to Take Action Against Undue Beneficiaries of Ladki Bahin Yojana
Before you try to claim a fake deduction or hide part of your income, keep in mind that the Income Tax Department is now smarter and more connected. It shares your income data with other government departments.
Recently, the Ministry of Finance issued a notification announcing that the Central Government has designated the Secretary of Women and Child Development, Maharashtra, to access income tax information under Section 138 of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
The Ladki Bahin Yojana is designed for women who belong to low-income families between the ages of 21 and 65. The applicant must be a resident of Maharashtra to be eligible under the scheme and have an Aadhaar-linked bank account. Additionally, they should come from families with an annual income below Rs. 2.5 lakh.
The state government is planning to carry out a verification process of beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Mazhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. The verification is aimed at identifying the eligible beneficiary and removing the ineligible beneficiary of this scheme. This comes after an investigation of 2 lakh applications revealed that 2,289 government employees had registered under the scheme. These were removed from the scheme.
