GST and Customs Pavilion inaugurated by CBIC Chairman Shri Sanjay Agarwal
Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), inaugurated the “GST and Customs Pavilion” at the 42nd India International Trade Fair in New Delhi today, in the presence of Ms. V. Rama Mathew, Member (IT and Taxpayer Services), CBIC, Ms. Renu K. Jagdev, D.G Taxpayer Services, other senior officers, taxpayers, and the general public.
A thematic video titled ‘CBIC– Uniting Markets, Bridging Borders’ set the tone for the Pavilion, which was inspired by the ITPO-2023 subject of ‘Vasudev Kutumbkam – United by Trade’. DGTS also issued educational videos in 10 regional languages for taxpayer awareness on GST Registration and Composition Levy, as well as a tutorial video on India’s AEO Programme, during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sanjay Agarwal, Chairman of the CBIC, emphasised the CBIC’s significant initiatives aimed at liberalising tax policy and digitising GST and Customs operations for taxpayer convenience and ease of doing business.
Shri Aggarwal also emphasized that GST has truly integrated India as one nation, one tax, and one market, while Indian Customs, apart from being the guardian of economic borders, has bridged the borders, and facilitated international trade. Has also contributed to facilitating work and initiatives of the Government of India. PM Gati Shakti, Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The pavilion contains six dedicated helpdesks on GST, Customs, GSTN, ICEGATE, and CBIC Mitra to assist taxpayers and the general public with rules/ processes and to resolve concerns on the spot.
While interacting with the officers positioned at the helpdesk, Shri Agarwal emphasised the importance of resolving taxpayer issues as the top priority and praised the efforts made in successfully showcasing the CBIC’s multifaceted role in the GST and Customs Pavilion in helpdesks and informative digital content, including the innovative VR Game “Stop the Smuggler.”
Shri Agarwal appreciated the taxpayer services team for preparing an informative and engaging ‘GST and Customs Pavilion,’ and hoped that the contents on exhibit and other activities will aid in raising taxpayer awareness of the GST and Customs processes.
There are multiple theme-based expert talk sessions on several relevant GST and Customs topics. The GST and Customs Pavilion will also host a number of exciting events to engage and entertain visitors, including Nukkad Natak, Ventriloquist Shows, QUIZ Shows on GST and Customs, and Children Activities, among others.
A distinctive counter has been set up to inform young people about employment options in the Customs and GST Department. CBIC publications and brochures on a variety of themes are also freely accessible for distribution and download. A particular counter for displaying Dharohar souvenirs (National Museum of Customs and GST, Goa) is also accessible in the CBIC pavilion.
The CBIC pavilion will be open to visitors from November 14 to 27, at India International Trade Fair, 2023, Hall No. 5, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, with the commitment of ‘Uniting Markets, Bridging Borders’.
