GST Dy Commissioner held for accepting bribe of Rs. 2 Lakhs
Senior state vigilance officials reported that on Tuesday, an Uttar Pradesh vigilance team apprehended a commercial tax deputy commissioner, goods and services tax, for allegedly accepting a Rs. 2 lakh bribe from a commercial tax officer in exchange for the reimbursement of GST by a data entry firm at Meera Bai Marg in Hazratganj.
Director general (DG) of vigilance Rajeev Krishna confirmed the detention and identified the suspect as Dhanendra Kumar Pandey. According to him, after receiving intelligence regarding the deputy commissioner, the vigilance department set a snare to capture him.
SP vigilance (intelligence), Arvind Kumar Chaturvedi, stated in a press release that Pandey had demanded the bribe in exchange for the reimbursement of Rs. 20 lakh in GST from “ARDEM Data Services Private Limited,” a company that provides document scanning and data entry services to bio-medical, financial, insurance, healthcare, and other retail businesses throughout the nation.
The SP stated that a FIR under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988 was filed in this regard with the office of vigilance for the Lucknow sector. As per the SP, the accused was incarcerated subsequent to his appearance before the appropriate court, while an ongoing investigation into the matter was ongoing.
He urged individuals to contact the vigilance establishment at 9454401866 in the event that a government employee requested a gratuity in exchange for non-performance of duties. He asserted that the establishment of vigilance will activate.
