GST official held for bribery by Anti Corruption Bureau
Goods and Services Tax official was arrested for apparently demanding and accepting a bribe in Thane, Maharashtra.
The accused identified as Madhukar Dhok (57) had demanded Rs. 20,000 from a person who had a connection with alleged errors in a GST application and was held in an Anti Corruption Bureau trap while accepting Rs. 7,000.
The official said that a case was registered at Naupada police station and the accused has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The Central Vigilance Commission observes Vigilance Awareness Week from October 30 to November 5, during which programs are organized to reduce corruption.
