GST Portal is Down Again! Taxpayers Frustrated Over Hours of Wasted Work A user named Abhas Halakhandi has recently posted an alert or complaint on his Twitter handle (platform 'X'), tagging @Infosys_GSTN (Group of officials responsible for maintaining the country's GST portal). In his post, he shared a live video from the GST portal at the time of filing GSTR-1. The portal was displaying "unable to load template". When he moved to log in to his account, filled in his username, password and captcha code displayed on the screen and clicked the 'Login' button, the portal did not proceed.

In his post, he said that the GST portal has not been working since the morning; therefore, users, including dealers (businesses) and tax professionals (CAs, consultants, etc.), are facing issues logging in or completing their GST-related work. He further highlighted that, because of this technical problem, thousands of man-hours are being wasted. A huge amount of time, effort, and productivity is being lost because people are continuously trying to file their GSTR-1 forms without success. GSTR-1 is a mandatory monthly or quarterly return that businesses must file to report their outward supplies, i.e., the sales or invoices they have issued.

Abhas points out that if the GST portal is down for maintenance or due to any technical issue, the authorities, particularly Infosys (the IT service provider for GSTN) or the GST Network (GSTN) itself, should at least inform users in advance or issue an update immediately. That way, professionals would not keep trying repeatedly or waste their time.
