GST Scam in Ludhiana: Rs. 2.77 Crore Fraud Involving iPhones, 4 People Booked
A local electronics company has been cheated out of Rs. 2.77 crore in a GST scam. The fraud consists of traders from Delhi and Haryana who used invalid GST numbers while selling iPhones and accessories.
Police have filed a case against four people: Kamal Ahmad and Azhar Haidar from Delhi and Rajat and Sheetal Madaan from Haryana. They are accused of tricking Hampton Sky Realty Ltd., owned by Ankur Garg.
The scammers delivered 43 shipments of expensive electronics to Garg’s company. The fraud was caught when Garg’s company tried to get GST refunds, but tax officials found that the GST numbers they used were either cancelled or suspended, so the refunds couldn’t be given.
When Garg asked the traders to repay the money, they apparently threatened him and claimed they had connections with high-ranking police officers to scare him off.
Police Inspector Amandeep Singh Brar confirmed that a case has been registered for cheating and criminal conspiracy. Police are currently searching for the accused.
