The scammers delivered 43 shipments of expensive electronics to Garg's company. The fraud was caught when Garg's company tried to get GST refunds, but tax officials found that the GST numbers they used were either cancelled or suspended, so the refunds couldn't be given. When Garg asked the traders to repay the money, they apparently threatened him and claimed they had connections with high-ranking police officers to scare him off. Police Inspector Amandeep Singh Brar confirmed that a case has been registered for cheating and criminal conspiracy. Police are currently searching for the accused.
