GSTN implemented 2 Factor Authentication on GST Portal

The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has implemented the 2 Factor Authentication on the GST Portal. This is done to enhance the security of the GST portal.

It is a relief for taxpayers given by GSTN, Goods and Services Tax (GST) registered taxpayers who are yet to register for two-factor authentication for generating e-waybill; this implementation will provide a chance for them to get themselves registered.

GSTN advises to take this opportunity and register for 2 Factor Authentication to prevent disruption in the taxpayer’s business.

After submitting their credentials, taxpayers must enter a one-time password (OTP). They will receive an OTP via their Primary Authorised Signatory’s mobile number and email address.

Important Points to Note

Professionals who keep their mobile number in the GST Portal will have a difficult time.

The only answer today is for professionals to update the client’s phone number on the GST Portal (so that E-Way Bill 2 Factor Authentication is easier for the client).
