GSTN issues new advisory on Auto-population of e-invoice details into GSTR-1
According to the government, the generation of an e-invoice is required for a specified class of taxpayers. These taxpayers must produce and issue e-invoices by reporting invoice data in the prescribed format (e-invoice schema in FORM GST INV-01) and submitting it to the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP). Successfully reported invoices on the IRP are assigned a unique Invoice Reference Number (IRN). The papers (invoices, debit notes, and credit notes) reported on the IRP are then electronically forwarded to the GST system, where they are auto-populated in the GSTR-1 tables.
