GSTN New Update: Andhra Pradesh Added to GST UPI and Card Payment Facility
The Goods and Service Tax Network (GSTN) recently announced through its official social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) that Andhra Pradesh will now be included in the list of states enabled for GST payments through Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and credit and debit card payment methods.
However, before Andhra Pradesh, there were 28 other states that already had UPI and debit/credit card payment facilities. These are the states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
The payment system supports almost all famous platforms, such as Rupay, MasterCard, Visa, and Diners cards. A wide network of banks is linked to this system, including Axis Bank, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, IDFC First Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Union Bank, Bandhan Bank, ICICI Bank, Indian Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank, Karnataka Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, and South Indian Bank. Which means taxpayers can now make their GST payments using their preferred bank account or card without any issue.
Through these kinds of payment methods, the government is promoting cashless tax compliance and user-friendly and simple payment options for taxpayers.
