HCL Infosystems Gets Major Tax Relief as CESTAT Cancels Rs 22.85-Crore Demand:

HCL Infosystems secures major tax relief as CESTAT cancels the Rs 22.85-crore tax demand, along with interest and penalty.
CESTAT Rules in HCL Infosystems’ Favour

HCL Infosystems Limited has got a favorable order from Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT), Allahabad in a tax related matter.
CESTAT in its order dated August 10, 2026 allowed the appeal filed by the company and set aside the order passed by the Commissioner of Central Goods & Services Tax, Noida, in July 2017.
The tribunal’s decision effectively cancels a tax demand of Rs 22.85 crore raised against HCL Infosystems, along with applicable interest and an equivalent penalty. The case related to the taxability of service tax on multiple services provided by the company.
The company had challenged the original order before CESTAT. With the tribunal now ruling in its favour, HCL Infosystems will no longer have to pay the disputed tax demand, interest and penalty under the order that has been set aside.
However, the tax department can still challenge the CESTAT order before a higher judicial forum, as permitted under the law.
The company said the favourable order has been taken on record and disclosed to the stock exchanges in accordance with SEBI regulations.
