Hindustan Zinc penalized by Custom Authorities: Plans to File Appeal
Hindustan Zinc Limited has issued an official disclosure dated July 08, 2025, under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015 (“SEBI Listing Regulations”), addressing the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), informing them that it has recently received an order from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs, NS-I, Maharashtra.
The order (Order No. 410/2025-26/JC/Gr. II (C-F)/NS-I/CAC/JNCH) dated July 02, 2025, received by the company on July 7, 2025, at 5:00 PM, from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs, NS-I, Maharashtra, confirmed the fine and penalty of Rs. 12,76,941, in addition to the customs duty demand and applicable interest under customs laws. This order deals with the subject of the valuation of certain goods that were imported by the company in the financial year 2019-20. The Customs Department believes that the declared value of the imported goods may not be accurate or compliant with the law, which could lead to underpayment of customs duties.
Hindustan Zinc Limited has stated that it is planning to challenge this order. The company is anticipated to file an appeal with the higher customs authority within the time allowed by law. The company believes the decision will likely be in its favour and does not expect this order to have any major financial impact.
