HP to verify Fake GST registrations
To prevent the entrance of fraudsters into the system, the State Taxes and Excise Department has set a target of 100% approval of GST registrations in manual mode following appropriate verification of documents attached to the registration application.
Furthermore, the government is taking the necessary procedures to conduct physical verifications of applicants who are deemed ‘risky.’
In a statement issued on Sunday, the department sources stated that the state government has taken multiple ambitious steps to ensure financial discipline with the goal of enhancing the state’s economic health and that numerous fresh initiatives have been launched in every sector to reduce inefficient expenditures.
According to the sources, the state government is slowly working towards holistic growth with new measures to improve the department’s efficiency with the goal of reforming the system. The main issue confronting Goods and Services Tax (GST) administrations across the country is the containment of fraudulent registrations.
The inclusion of these fraudsters into the GST system results in a significant loss to the state exchequer. The department has long been involved in discovering and investigating fraudulent tax evaders. It has also been in contact with the Central Tax Authorities.
