Hyderabad Zone Celebrates GST Day

CGST & Customs, Hyderabad Zone, celebrated the GST Day on Wednesday at Amaravathi Auditorium, Banjara Hills, to mark nine fruitful years of Goods and Services Tax (GST), one of the most significant indirect tax reforms of India.
The entire function was held with the theme "Sugam Kar Vyavastha, Sashakt Bharat" (Simplified Tax System, Empowered India). This clearly shows the government’s dedication to a simplified tax system and an empowered India.
The Chief Commissioner of Central Tax and Customs, Hyderabad Zone, was the chief guest for the function and emphasised the revolutionary role of GST in bringing about uniformity in the national market, simplification of indirect taxes, facilitating tax compliance through technology, and overall ease of doing business. He further congratulated the officials and staff for their committed efforts in the implementation of GST and voluntary tax compliance.
The Honourable Chief Justice of the High Court of Telangana was the chief guest for the occasion. His appreciation for the progress achieved through the GST framework over the past nine years was evident, and he underlined the importance of an effective and transparent tax regime in aiding economic growth.
The need for cooperation between the taxpayers and the tax administration for improving compliance and nation-building was emphasised. The importance of reaching out to various stakeholders through outreach programmes for increasing awareness and working with the Legal Services Authority was also highlighted.
Dr K. Brahmanandam, who has received the Padma Shri and is a celebrated film actor, congratulated the department for completing nine years of the GST journey successfully. There was also an audio-visual presentation about the journey and accomplishments of GST in the last nine years.
The certificates of appreciation were awarded to the officers and staff as a way of acknowledging the excellent services they rendered in successfully carrying out the operations of the GST and Customs Department.
