Overview:

IBM is hiring an experienced Strategy Consultant at their Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kochi locations. The Strategy and M&A Consultant (Consultant) is responsible for supporting global strategies and initiatives to deliver key business outcomes for IBM Software and IBM Global Sales in support of IBM’s Hybrid Cloud and AI strategy. The Consultant’s major focus is on strategies and programs to drive profitable software revenue growth and accelerate client adoption of our Hybrid Cloud and AI platforms.

What will you be doing:

The Consultant will, as assigned, support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and projects. Specific responsibilities may include market and competitive analysis, financial and operational analysis, data collection and integration, root cause identification and support for strategic programs. The consultant must work effectively in cross-functional (Finance, Marketing, HR, etc.) teams to develop these strategies and will support updates/communications to senior executive stakeholders. As strategies are approved for implementation, the strategy consultant will support change initiatives to ensure strategies and programs deliver targeted business outcomes.

Strategies are developed through a consultative, data-driven, analytically oriented approach — underpinned by an understanding of business dynamics, competitiveness, business and operations strategy, and change management. The consultant will use their expertise and experience in software and technology Go To Market models to structure analyses, integrate data, identify root causes, and formulate strategies to address challenges and/or capture opportunities. In addition, they will be expected to leverage their knowledge of IBM’s Software business and GTM model, including our software segments, our technical and experiential GTM capabilities, an ecosystem of partners, and a strong reliable demand generation engine.

The Consultant will also meet, as assigned, the planning, control, and administration of financial activities related to assigned projects.

Qualifications for this Job:

at least 2-3 years experience with a major business Consulting firm, Software, Sales, Data Science or Banking/Finance

MBA from top school

Technical or data-intensive undergraduate degree

What Skills are Needed:

Data Analytics: Deep skills and understanding of data and analytical methods to yield insight, including root cause and statistical analyses. This includes advanced use of Excel and data science methods and tools

Structured Thinking: Ability to understand and contribute to the development of structured thinking and frameworks to address ambiguous, unstructured challenges.

Communications: Outstanding oral and written communication skills as demonstrated through their prior work and educational experience

Dynamism: Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-threaded work environment, including dealing with shifting priorities and make progress on multiple fronts with speed and precision

Teamwork: Maintain positive work relationships and demonstrate strong teamwork with peers, management, and clients. Willingly “give back” to develop the team’s knowledge base

Innovation: Relentless curiosity and a drive to innovate and continuously improve the methods and outcomes used in their work
