The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has given representation on raising arrets and FIR against Chartered Accountants.

CA Umesh Sharma, who is an honorable ICAI Central Council member shared this news on his official Twitter Account. He wrote, “ICAI Appeal and Representation raising Grave concerns regarding the arrests and lodging of FIR against Chartered Accountants under the
Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act presented to Home Minister of Cooperation Mr. Dilip Walse Patil ji. He assured to look into the matter..”

Various cases came out during the year regarding the arrest of CAs or CAs found guilty of something. In October 2023, DGGI arrested a Chartered Accountant involved in Input Tax Credit (ITC) Fraud of Rs. 140 Crore. Similarly, the CA Auditor was arrested in a Rs.97.4 Crore loan scam related to Ajanta Urban Coop Bank. Some Chartered Accountants were also arrested for taking bribes to get the work done.
