In the wake of the ongoing epidemic of Novel Corona Virus, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has published instructions for Examination Centres, Examination Functionaries, and Candidates for the December 2021 CA Examinations.

“The ICAI is taking all reasonable precautions to ensure the safe and secure conduct of the CA Examinations, which are set to take place in December 2021. The ICAI has already expanded the examinations to cover an additional 192 districts across the country, allowing applicants to avoid travelling outside of their district as much as possible. In the present Covid-19 environment, ICAI will also implement appropriate Social Distancing procedures to guarantee the health and safety of our candidates. “Adequate steps are being taken to ensure the safety of all without jeopardizing the examination’s high standards, sanctity, or fairness,” the ICAI stated.

The Institute has mandated that all seating spaces be thoroughly sanitised prior to the start of the examination. All door handles, stair railings, and other surfaces must be disinfected. Candidates may, if wanted, clean the seating area with their own hand sanitizers, and may also bring a face shield, hand gloves, or other personal protective equipment.

Inside the test hall, candidates may bring the following items: face mask (required), face shield (optional), hand gloves (optional), personal transparent water bottle, personal tiny hand sanitizer, and exam-related items/documents as directed (Calculators, stationery items, Admit Card, Photo ID card, etc.).

The exam centres must have a sufficient number of thermo pistols on hand to check the temperature of applicants and all employees on duty at the entry point. Those candidates/staff who do not meet the stipulated temperature limit will be instructed not to enter the site, and their names will be placed in the attendance register if they are refused access.

While each applicant will bring their own water bottle, the Center will ensure that bottled water bottles are available at a sufficient number of places.

The examination centre shall provide additional notice boards, display signage, and other materials for candidate guidance, as well as employees to post the location of rooms/sitting plans at appropriate locations for candidates’ assistance.

The examination centres must label their various wings of the premises separately, such as Wing A, B, and so on. Each wing will function as its own examination centre. To the extent practical, each wing will have its own entrance.

The exam centres must station enough employees at the entrance point to prevent crowding and maintain proper social distance.

Candidates must consent to follow numerous guidelines given by the Governmental authorities as well as the ICAI while the admission card is printed online. If a candidate is a minor, he or she must fill out a form that states that he or she is taking the examination with the consent and permission of his or her parents/guardians and submit/deposit the said undertaking/format, duly signed by his or her parents/guardians, at the Examination center’s room/hall.
