ICAI signed MoU with CBSE to Revolutionize Skill-Based Accounting Education
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), through its Committee on Career Counselling, signed a MoU with the Department of Skill Education, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), on 21st November 2024, at Bhubaneswar, Odisha, to promote commerce-based skill courses for students across the country.
The partnership between ICAI and CBSE aims to promote commerce-related skills, particularly in the BFSI industry. The primary focus will be on improving students' abilities and employability through specialized courses that are tailored to meet industry standards.
The ICAI will provide expert advice on course content, syllabus development, study materials, training modules, and career planning. The Institute will also conduct enrichment activities and participate in CBSE-organized workshops and training sessions, with a focus on informing educators and students about career options in accounting and related sectors.
On this historic occasion, ICAI President, CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal said, “The signing of this MoU with CBSE is an important step toward improving the skill development environment for students across the country. Through this relationship, ICAI hopes to promote commerce-based skill training and provide students with relevant, industry-aligned competencies. This partnership demonstrates our dedication to closing the gap between academic learning and professional requirements, and we are certain that it will provide new opportunities for students to pursue promising careers in accounting and finance."
As part of this collaboration, the ICAI and CBSE will jointly conduct awareness programs for school principals, teachers, and management teams in CBSE-affiliated schools across India. The programs will promote commerce-based skill training in the BFSI industry and emphasize the value of these courses in students' professional growth. In addition, CBSE will arrange capacity-building efforts for commerce-related subject instructors to provide them with the skills and knowledge they need to effectively teach these courses.
The Institute actively engages in collaborative endeavors with educational institutions, and it has signed 85 Memorandums of Understanding with quite a number of universities, colleges, and educational organizations. These collaborations are intended to promote academic achievement, research innovation, and knowledge exchange, resulting in the development of a highly skilled and educated workforce.
