ICAI vs CA Students: CJI Chandrachud to hear petition on April 29

In an important development for Chartered Accountancy students, the Supreme Court will hear the matter of CA students on coming Monday, i.e., 29th April 2024 on the Postponement of CA Exams scheduled to be held in May 2024.

A petition filed by a group of students on April 16 will be heard by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud, along with Hon’ble Mr. Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Manoj Misra on April 29th. The Petition was filed seeking the postponement of CA Exams as Lok Sabha 2024 Election-related activities might disrupt preparation activities of Students.

 

The petition of 16 CA students was earlier dismissed by the Delhi High Court on 8th April 2024, following which, the students approached the apex court for redressal of their grievances.

The Lok Sabha Elections 2024 have already started and will continue till June 1, 2024, in seven phases. At same time ICAI has issued Admit cards for CA Inter and Final students and CA Exams 2024 are scheduled to take place between May 2 to 17.
