ICSI signs MoU with IIM Jammu

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding for instituting the ICSI Signature Award Scheme with Indian Institute of Management – Jammu.

The objective of the MOU is to facilitate a comprehensive partnership for imparting knowledge and skills in the areas of Joint Academic Research, Joint Workshops, Professional Development Programme for Company Secretaries, sharing resources and International Conferences besides awarding the toppers of programmes of IIM Jammu with ICSI Signature Award Gold Medal and a scholarship to pursue the Company Secretary Course.

CS Ashish Garg, President ICSI, while signing the MoU on behalf of ICSI, said that “The Motto of ICSI is to develop high calibre Professionals and that of IIM is to develop global Leaders. Therefore, together, the efforts of the two Institutes will ensure maximum value creation in Corporate Governance.”

Echoing the sentiments, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director IIM Jammu, emphasized on the importance of the MoU between ICSI and IIM and said that this undertaking would not just help in fostering the relationship between the two partner institutes but would also promote Executive Education Programmes.

CS Nagendra D Rao, Vice President ICSI, in his address, gave a detailed explanation of the purpose of the MoU and quoted verses from The Bhagwad Geeta to accentuate on the importance of Governance and the intrinsic qualities of Leaders.

Dr. Muqbil Burhan, Chairperson Executive Education, IIM Jammu and Dr. Jabir Ali, Professor IIM Jammu, further introduced the various ongoing and upcoming programmes at IIM Jammu and highlighted upon the new opportunities that this collaboration would bring, in terms of leveraging professionalism, for both the Institutes.

The MoU signing was followed by a session on “Moving from Compliance to Governance – The new leadership paradigmns” by Mr. Rajeev Bhadauria, Co-Founder My Transform where he stressed on how Good Governance of the future would be aligned on the principle of quick decision and lingering dreams and explained the concept of ‘Co-botics’, the desired combination of AI and human Co-operation in future.
