ICSI warns Company Secretaries on social media postings ahead of elections The Institute of Company Secretaries of India(ICSI) has warned Company Secretaries on social media postings ahead of elections. As the candidates must be aware, the Election Code of Conduct dated 07.09.2022 issued by the Returning Officer restricts use of social media for election campaign. It is reiterated that no n1e1nber of the Institute shall do or undertake any act or publish anything in any 1node including social media in any manner, which adversely affects or tarnishes or likely to affect or tarnish the image, goodwill or reputation of the Institute, its policies, Profession of Company Secretaries, the Council, Council Members and the employees of the Institute. The Company Secretaries Act of 1980's misbehaviour provisions will apply if the Election Code of Conduct, directives, or circulars issued by the Returning Officer under the 2006 Company Secretaries (Election to the Council) Rules are not followed. The Institute is in the process of screening various posts purportedly by the members in social media. Violations, if any, of the Election Code of Conduct in such posts shall be dealt with as per the applicable laws and rules. For Official Directive Download PDF Given Below:
