IIIT Dharwad Gets Central Government Approval for Scientific Research Tax Benefits:

IIIT Dharwad has received Central Government approval for scientific research tax benefits for tax years 2026-27 to 2030-31 under the Income-tax Act, 2025.
IIIT Dharwad Approved for Scientific Research Tax Benefits

The Central Government grants tax benefits for scientific research to Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Dharwad. The sanction has been granted under the provision of section 45(3)(a)(i) of the Income-tax Act, 2025.
The approval will be valid for tax years 2026-27 to 2030-31, as per a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance on July 17, 2026. IIIT Dharwad will be eligible for the benefits as an approved university, college or other institution engaged in scientific research.
However, the institute would have to meet the conditions stipulated under the Income-tax Rules, 2026. Also, it must provide a statement of donations received for scientific research for each tax year.
The statement must be submitted in Form No. 15 to the Income Tax Department by May 31 of the following tax year. In addition, IIIT Dharwad will have to issue donors a certificate in Form No. 16, mentioning the amount of donation received, as required under the tax rules.
