Income Tax Breaking: CBDT Releases Excel Utility for ITR-3 Form on E-Filing Portal (AY 2026-27)
The Income Tax Department has released the Excel Utility for the ITR-3 form for Assessment Year 2026-27 (Financial Year 2025-26) on the official e-filing portal. With this release, online return filing has begun on the portal.
The tax department has announced this update on social media, saying, "Kind Attention Taxpayers! Online filing and Excel Utility for ITR-3 for A.Y. 2026-27 are now enabled on the e-Filing portal."
The action is subsequent to the release of Excel Utilities for ITR-1 and ITR-4 on May 15, and for ITR-2 on May 27, 2026. The ITR-3 form is specifically used by individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) earning income from a business or profession, including both audit and non-audit cases. This income is taxable under the head of "Profits and gains of business or profession". Who Files the ITR-3 Form? - Salary or pension income
- Capital gains
- Income from house property
- Other sources of income
- Remuneration, commission, bonus, interest or salary received from a partnership firm
- In cases where accounts are not required to be audited, the ITR filing due date is August 31, 2026.
- In cases where accounts are required to be audited, the ITR filing due date is October 31, 2026.
