Income Tax Department conducts search operations in West Bengal On 07.12.2021, the Internal Revenue Service launched a search operation in the case of two significant makers and suppliers of refined lead, lead alloys, and lead oxides. The search operation was place at 24 locations throughout West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. During the search and seizure operation, it was discovered that these organisations are involved in the suppression of taxable income by making fictitious transactions and inflating purchase amounts. Investigations have conclusively established that these two organisations have made fictitious acquisitions totaling roughly Rs. 250 crore in the names of numerous persons, proprietary enterprises, and businesses. Stock registrations, transit certificates, e-way invoices, and other documentation were forged to make such false purchases, according to evidence acquired during the search operation. Several accommodation entry providers have admitted to supplying fake bills without providing the necessary materials. The investigation of documents seized from one of the organisations' business facilities reveals a systematic pattern of over-invoicing during the acquisition of raw materials. The important members of the assessee group receive the difference in cash. One of the company's employees stated that invoices were inflated by charging more fees for higher-quality goods than were actually delivered. Incriminating evidence, in the form of physical documents and digital data, was also discovered and seized, showing unaccounted cash investments in immovable properties. The search activities resulted in the confiscation of Rs. 53 lakh worth of jewellery, while four bank lockers have still to be opened. Further investigations are being carried out.
