What is AIS?

The Annual Information Statement, or AIS, records all transactions made by taxpayers during the fiscal year. That is quite useful while filing ITR. AIS includes additional transaction data. There are detailed data of money transmitted abroad, such as interest rate, dividend, security transaction, and mutual fund.

What is Form 26AS?

Form 26AS contains detailed information about tax deductions, collected, and PAN for the fiscal year. A taxpayer must have a tax passbook, 26AS form, and information of transactions throughout the fiscal year along with their PAN while filing an ITR. Go to the Income Tax website to get it. Choose Income Tax Return from the e-filing menu bar. The 26AS form can be found here.

26AS comprises information on the source of TDS, the tax collector’s information (including self-assessment tax, advance tax, tax refund, yearly information report, high value transaction, property tax deduction, tax deduction on high value amount, and other tax deductions), and other tax deductions.
