Income Tax Department not to take up Common Question of Law with High Court or the Supreme Court Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Presented her fourth Union Budget in Parliament in a paperless manner yesterday, like she did last year. Domestic and foreign investors, as well as other interest groups such as farmers, crypto investors, worried middle class and business organizations, as well as MPs, watched the Budget address closely. Litigation Management "A lot of time and money are spent filing appeals that involve identical concerns," Smt. Sitharaman added. To advance the Government's policy of sound litigation management and reduce repeated litigation between taxpayers and the department, the Government would make a provision that if a question of law in the case of an assessee is identical to a question of law pending in appeal before the jurisdictional High Court or the Supreme Court in any case, the department's filing of a further appeal in the case of this assessee would be deferred until such time as the question of law in the case of this assessee is resolved.
