Income Tax Department passes Rs. 228.49 cr. TDS order against Tata Comm

Tata Communications has filed an appeal with the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal against an income tax commissioner court ruling rejecting the company’s appeal against a tax claim of 228.49 crore, according to an exchange filing.

In a late-night filing on Friday, the company indicated that it had filed appeals before the Commissioner of Income-Tax (Appeals), Mumbai, in respect of TDS judgements alleging short deduction of tax at source for assessment years 2013-14 to 2018-19.

According to the corporation, the possible financial ramifications are 228.49 crore. On September 7, 2023, the Commissioner of Income-Tax (Appeals), Mumbai, issued decisions deciding the appeals filed against the corporation.

“On September 8, 2023, the company filed an appeal against these orders before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal,” Tata Communications stated.
