Income Tax Department Seized 4.5 Crore in a Search Operation; Businessman Arrested
The Income Tax Department raided Devender Pal Singh, a well-known businessman and director of the Institute of Entrepreneurship Developments in Kanpur, at numerous sites in the National Capital Region (NCR), Kanpur, and Lucknow's Sarojini Nagar.
After a chase by IT authorities from the Lucknow wing and local police, Devender Pal Singh was apprehended in Kanpur on Friday night.
Raids are currently taking place in Shahdara and Ghaziabad. According to a source, the raids began on Friday night and are currently ongoing.
Singh was apprehended in Kanpur after receiving a tip. He was driving somewhere in his automobile at the time. IT officials collided with him and intercepted his automobile with the help of Kanpur police. During the search, a total of Rs.1 crore in cash was discovered. When asked about the money, Singh remained silent.
According to the source, 4.25 crore in cash has been confiscated since Friday.
Devender Pal Singh was questioned by IT officials about the cash found during the raids, but he was unable to provide a satisfactory answer.
