Income Tax Dept Launches ‘PRARAMBH-2026’ Awareness Drive on New Income Tax Act
The Income Tax Department held a programme called "PRARAMBH–2026" for promoting awareness in the Chitnavis Center, Civil Lines, Nagpur. It was conducted on May 14, 2026.
It was based on the provisions of the Income Tax Act, 2025, and the Income Tax Rules, 2026.
The programme's goal was to promote cooperation by educating stakeholders and taxpayers the key features of the new Income Tax Act, 2025.
Dr. Sibichen K. Mathew, Director General of National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), Nagpur, came at the event as chief guest. Participants of the program were welcomed by Shri Sunil Umap, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax (PCIT), Nagpur.
Dr. Sibichen K. Mathew mentioned the importance of technology-driven taxpayer services. He further encouraged stakeholders to use the department's AI-powered “KAR SAATHI” chatbot for quick advice and help.
Many people from various sectors came to attend the event which included industry, legal fraternity, chartered accountants, income tax practitioners, deductors, collectors, and taxpayers from all across the region, as well as Income Tax Department officials in Nagpur.
The program focused on the key provisions and major changes under the Income Tax Act, 2025, including non-profit organizations, TDS, and intelligence & criminal investigation.
A live demonstration of the AI-powered "KAR SAATHI" chatbot, interactive Q&A sessions, and the distribution of informational brochures were all included in the programme.
