Income Tax Employee of Chennai loses Rs.98500 in Cyber Fraud An income tax employee fell victim to an internet fraudsters and lost Rs. 98,500 from his bank account. Nishanth Kumar, a 29-year-old West Bengal native, works as an administrative staff member in the income tax department in Chennai. Nishanth's father-in-law informed him that he had couriered sweets from Kolkata ahead of Diwali on November 11. Nishanth looked up the customer service number online because he hadn't received the delivery by November 13. He looked up a phone number and dialed it. A man who received the call was instructed to access a link and transfer Rs. 5 from his bank account in order to track the location of the sweet gift. The conman transferred a total of Rs. 98,500 from his bank account in three payments when he completed the transaction. The Thirumangalam police department opened an investigation based on Nishanth's complaint.
