Income Tax: Last Date To Declare Pending Taxes Under Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme Announced, Check Full Details
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has scheduled April 30, 2025, as the last date for taxpayers to submit declarations regarding tax arrears under the Vivad se Vishwas Scheme, 2024. The announcement has been made through an official circular, which has asked all the taxpayers to file their declarations to the assigned authority before the last date. The main motive of the scheme is to make it simpler for people to resolve their tax-related problems with the income tax department. It gives taxpayers a chance to settle disputes in a friendly and simple way.
The Vivad se Vishwas scheme was introduced in the 2024 budget passed by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The scheme was implemented on October 1, 2024. This helps the taxpayers resolve the income tax conflicts by paying the reduced amount of tax.
The official notification released by CBDT says that candidates who wish to take part in the scheme are required to file their declarations to the aforementioned authority by the scheduled date, i.e., April 30, 2025. This is the first time an announcement has been made for the last date of the scheme, This is a great privilege for taxpayers as they have the chance to submit the declaration by the end of the month. Candidates must note that the scheme is only available to solve the conflicts that were left unsolved as of July 22, 2024.
The CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) has made it clear that cases still being looked at by the Income Tax Settlement Commission or under review in higher courts cannot be settled under the Vivad se Vishwas scheme. To help people understand the rules, the Income Tax Department has shared a list of FAQs (frequently asked questions) on its website, explaining who can apply and how the process works.
The main goal of the scheme is to cut down on long-running legal fights and help people follow tax rules more easily. It gives taxpayers a simple way to settle disputes with the department. While past schemes like this have had mixed success, the government hopes this one will see more people taking part and better results.
In today’s tax environment, the Vivad se Vishwas Scheme gives people a big chance to clear up their tax issues. Since the last date is approaching, taxpayers should look into it soon and decide quickly. The hope is that this scheme will help solve many pending cases in a faster and smoother way.
