Income Tax Raid: IT Dept. raids several premises of TMC MLA Zakir Hussain; Seized Huge quantities of Currency Notes The Income Tax Department raided and seized large amounts of currency notes from TMC MLA Zakir Hossain's properties in Murshidabad and Kolkata. The mountain of notes has struck West Bengal politics once more. TMC is embroiled in another controversy following Partha Chatterjee and the education scam involving him. The amount of Rs.10.90 crore has been recovered from the house of Zakir Hussain, TMC MLA from Murshidabad. Late Wednesday night, the Income Tax Department raided Zakir Hussain's home and several of his factories. So much money was recovered during that raid. The MLA is certain that he has all of the documents related to this money, but the agencies have begun their investigation. The Income Tax Department raided a total of 28 locations. During that raid, 15 crore rupees were recovered. There has also been Rs.11 crore received from Murshidabad alone, where Zakir is the MLA. According to reports, the TMC MLA has a large beedi business with many factories. Income Tax was keeping an eye on those factories, so raids were conducted there as well during the investigation. Apart from this, Hussain owns a rice mill in Raghunathganj and is subject to an income tax raid. A close friend of TMC MLA's house was also raided.
