A Delta Corp. business has been granted interim relief by the Calcutta High Court in connection with the payment of the due goods and services tax of Rs 6,384 crore.

The company stated in an exchange filing on Wednesday that the court ordered that any orders made by the tax office on the show-cause notice be given no effect.

Deltatech Gaming Ltd. received a intimation from the Directorate General of GST Intelligence, Kolkata, in October requesting payment of the shortfall tax.

Two tax shortfalls of Rs.147 crore and Rs.6,236 crore were allegedly unpaid between July 2017 and October 2022 and January 2018 to November 2022, respectively.

The company had declared that it would challenge such tax claims and associated actions using all legal means at its disposal.

The business was served a demand notice in September for more than Rs.16,000 crore in goods and services tax. The amount stated in the notice, according to Delta Corp., is “based on the gross bet value of all games played at the casinos during the relevant period.”

The Bombay High Court issued an interim order regarding the Rs.16,000 crore tax notice towards the end of October. The company has a total tax demand of approximately Rs.22,300 crore, and its market capitalization is currently Rs.3,720.68 crore on the BSE.
