IT Dept. Raids Properties of Telangana Minister Malla Reddy

Income tax department investigation wing sleuths from Delhi and Hyderabad searched the homes of Telangana minister of labour and employment Ch Malla Reddy and his family on Tuesday in connection with the alleged tax evasion.

The Reddy family’s colleges in Dulapally and their home in Kompally’s Palm Meadows were both searched.

After the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax investigators searched the home and offices of Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, Food, and Civil Supplies-Gangula Kamalakar two weeks ago, this is the second time an IT raid is being conducted on a Telangana minister.

According to sources, the raids began early in the morning and centred on Labour Minister Malla Reddy and his family.

The TRS Minister, his son Mahender Reddy, son-in-law Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, Malla Reddy’s brother, and other family members were the targets of simultaneous searches by the IT teams at their residences in and around the districts of Hyderabad and Medchal Malkajgiri.

About 50 teams from the IT department commenced searches which were also done at their residence at Palm Meadows villas at Kompally. The Minister was present during the searches which began early on Tuesday morning at 5:45 am

The authorities are also inspecting the homes and workplaces of Malla Reddy’s elder son Mahendra Reddy and his son-in-law Rajasehkar Reddy, who are also looking into the affairs of the educational institutions and real estate firm.

The vice president of CMR Educational Society, Malla Reddy Educational Society, Chandramma Educational Society, and St. Martin’s Educational Society is Malla Reddy’s wife Ch Kalapana Reddy. She serves as the head of the MGR Educational Society and C Malla Reddy Educational Society, both of which include the son and the son-in-law.

The IT detectives have taken her phone and are searching his home. In response to claims of tax cheating, IT officials are reviewing the income records of the institutions managed by the Malla Reddy Group.

It’s likely that the searches will go on all day Tuesday.
