IT Raid: Annual income of Rs.1 crore leads to Income Tax Raid at UP Youtuber’s House

The Income Tax Department raided the home of a YouTuber named Taslim in Uttar Pradesh on July 15, 2023. During the operation, the tax department discovered Rs.24 lakh in cash, as well as gold jewellery and other valuables. The Income Tax Department estimates Taslim earned roughly Rs.1 crore through his YouTube channel and other sources of income.

Taslim’s brother, Feroze, has stated that Taslim creates films on the stock market and pays income tax on his income. Taslim also handles the YouTube channel ‘Trading Hub 3.0,’ according to Feroze.

Feroze has stated that the cash and jewels discovered during the raid belonged to Taslim’s parents. He further stated that Taslim has been paying income tax on his earnings from YouTube and other sources. He stated that Taslim has already paid Rs.4 lakh in taxes on his entire YouTube revenue of Rs.1.2 crore.

Taslim’s tax returns and sources of income are being investigated by the Tax Department. They’re also looking into whether he’s evaded taxes. Taslim might face prosecution if it is discovered that he evaded taxes.

This is not the first time the Income Tax Department has raided YouTubers’ residences. The IT Department raided the houses of numerous YouTubers in Kerala in 2022. The IT Department discovered that these YouTubers were not properly paying taxes on their YouTube earnings.

YouTubers in India must pay income tax on their revenues. If their gross total revenue reaches Rs.1 crore, then they are required to undergo a tax audit.

The IT Department’s raids on YouTubers indicate that the government is taking the issue of tax evasion by online content providers seriously. More raids of this nature are anticipated in the future.
