Kalpataru Projects Gets Tax Demand Notice in Kenya; Plans to Challenge It Kalpataru Projects International Ltd. (KPIL) has informed stock exchanges that its branch office in Kenya has received an assessment notice from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). The notice relates to an alleged non-payment of Profit Repatriation Tax (PRT) for the financial year 2024.

According to the company, the tax authority has demanded PRT along with interest and a penalty. The penalty amount mentioned in the notice is KES 11,070,578, which is approximately Rs 80.95 lakh. KPIL said it received the notice on June 15, 2026, and intends to file objections against the assessment within the prescribed timelines. The company believes it has the right to challenge the assessment and will pursue the available legal process. The company also clarified that the penalty amount and the related tax demand are not expected to have any significant impact on its financial position, operations, or overall business activities.
