Link Aadhaar with PAN: Extension of Deadline likely as Income Tax Portal and Payment Page is Down The Indian government is expected to extend the deadline for integrating PANs with Aadhaar by two to three months. According to trustworthy sources, a government official with knowledge of the development stated that the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) could soon issue a notification to that effect. However, taxpayers will be charged a price for the additional time. The current deadline for linking PAN and Aadhaar is March 31, 2023. It is required to link Aadhaar with PAN for submitting Income Tax Returns (ITRs) and obtaining a new PAN in order to avoid penalties. The Central Board of Direct Taxes had already extended the March 30, 2022 deadline by one year, imposing a cost of Rs. 500 for up to three months beginning April 1, 2022, and Rs. 1,000 thereafter. Individuals' PANs that are not linked to their Aadhaar will become inoperative after March 31, 2023, and all of the existing repercussions under the Income Tax Act would apply to such taxpayers. However, the platform is experiencing numerous difficulties, and stakeholders are having difficulty integrating the Aadhar Card with the PAN Card. Taxpayers throughout India are reporting technological issues on the new income tax e-filing platform - incometaxindia.gov.in - as the deadline approaches. Many people have resorted to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the payment and PAN-Aadhaar connecting sites, claiming that the system is down.
