Lok Sabha passes Finance Bill 2022, giving effect to proposals of govt

The Lok Sabha on Thursday passed the Finance Bill, 2022, which gives effect to the financial proposals of the central government for the financial year 2022-22.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman responded to the debate on the bill, which includes some changes to the union budget proposals. The passage of the Finance Bill by Parliament concludes the budgetary process.

The minister stated that the changes were made primarily to improve the ease of doing business and to reduce the compliance burden.
