NCERT Textbooks To Be Updated Soon: The NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) textbooks will be revised shortly as per an Education Ministry official. According to media reports, the NCERT textbooks for all classes will be modified. The NCERT textbooks will be created as per the National Curriculum Framework (NCF). The revised NCERT textbooks are likely to be introduced in the Schools from the academic session 2024-2025.

According to officials from the Ministry of Education, the new NCERT textbooks will be based on the NEP (New Education Policy 2020). The NCERT textbooks will be designed as per the modern academic syllabus and pedagogy as mentioned in the National Curriculum Framework (created as per NEP 2020). The same modified textbooks will also be made available digitally to enhance the digital learning process. The new NCERT textbooks will be available for download on the official website. NCERT textbooks are the benchmark on which other books for secondary and senior secondary schools are written.

The National Education Policy 2020 proposed a “5+3+3+4” academic curriculum structure. According to this new school education system, children will study for five years in the foundational stage, three years in the preparatory stage, three years in the middle stage, and four years in the secondary stage. The Ministry of Education started the process of revising the NCERT textbooks in 2020. For this purpose, the government formed a 12-member committee to develop a National Curriculum Framework (NCF). The committee is headed by K Kasturirangan, the former ISRO chairman.

The NCF is being prepared based on SCFs (State Curriculum Frameworks) and expert inputs. The new NCERT textbooks will be revised according to this NCF (National Curriculum Framework). The Ministry of Education is also planning to develop a robust institutional framework to ensure that textbooks are updated from time to time. Timely modifications of textbooks help to provide the latest and most useful knowledge to school children. Experts are working hard to revise the NCERT Textbooks so that these books can be implemented from the academic session 2024-2025.
