No GST Collected from gaming apps: MOF in Lok Sabha
The Minister of State Shri Pankaj Chaudhary in the Ministry of Finance in a written reply to a question raised in Lok Sabha said, "No GST Collected from gaming apps".
SHRI ADHIKARI DEEPAK (DEV) asked these questions in Lok Sabha:
Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state:
(a) the total Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection from Gaming Apps upto 31.10.2023;
(b) the number of Gaming Apps running in the country;
(c) the annual turnover of said Gaming Apps; and
(d) the number of unauthorized Gaming Apps banned till 31st October 2023?
The Minister of State replied:
(a): GST is not collected from gaming apps. The liability to pay GST is on a registered person which may, besides operating gaming apps be supplying other taxable supplies.
(b) and (c): No such data is maintained.
(d): The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) blocked a total of 581 applications under section 69A of the IT Act, 2000 which includes 174 betting and gambling-related applications, 87 loan lending applications and other applications including gaming applications like PUBG, Garena Free Fire etc.
