NPCI launches NTS platform for tokenization of RuPay cards as safety measures

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced the launch of the NPCI Tokenization System (NTS), which will facilitate card tokenization as an alternative to retailers keeping card details.

The NPCI Tokenization System will support the tokenization of RuPay cards to further enhance the safety of customers and provide a seamless shopping experience.

Millions of RuPay cardholders will benefit from NPCI’s Token Reference On File (TROF) service, which will keep their financial data safe. According to experts, cardholder information will be entirely safe and secure in the RuPay Network Secure vault.

Sensitive client information has must be maintained in the form of an encrypted’token’ to aid protect transactions, according to the RBI‘s set of rules. These tokens then allow payments to be handled without disclosing customer information or allowing payment intermediaries to keep customer information, potentially compromising security and privacy.

With NTS, acquiring banks, aggregators, merchants, and others can become NPCI certified and play the function of Token Requestor, assisting in the saving of the Token reference number (Token Reference On File) against all saved card numbers. All of these companies can keep their RuPay customer base by using TROF for future transactions initiated by their customers.
