Penalty For Non-linking of PAN with Aadhar; Check What it will Cost You?

The Government set the price of penalty for not linking Aadhaar with PAN after the due date is Rs.1000/-. Any Individual who failed to link his/her Aadhar with PAN within the time limit given, have to Rs,1000/- as penalty.

Due Date for the same is 31/03/2022.

In an Unstarred Question & Answered Session in Lok Sabha, Shrimati Ranjanben Dhananjay Bhatt question Minister of Finance to state her view on following matter:-

(a) whether the Government proposes any provision of penalty for not linking PAN Card with Aadhaar;

(b) if so, whether the Government has taken any steps in this regard; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

In the reply of question asked, the Minister of Finance stated:

Yes, Sir. Finance Act, 2021 inserted a new section 234H in the Income-tax Act, 1961 to complete the process of PAN-Aadhar linking. This section provides that where a person who is required to intimate his Aadhaar under sub­section (2) of section 139AA and fails to do so on or before a prescribed date, he shall be liable to pay a fee not exceeding a sum of “one thousand rupees” as may be prescribed, at the time of making intimation under sub-section (2) of section 139AA after the said date. 31st March, 2022 is the last date for intimating Aadhaar as notified vide notification dated 17.09.2021.
